Yarborough Lodge Gala Evening
Masonic Ladies Festival Photography
I was invited to take the photographs by Fred and Helen Ferriman, Yarborough Lodge for the Gala Night on Saturday 23rd April 2016. The Worshipful Master’s name was W.Bro Norman Jones and the event was attended by 100 guests. The event was held at Hallmark (Aerodrome) Hotel in Croydon. The hotel is described as neoclassical architecture and opened in 1928 to serve passengers flying in and out of Croydon Aerodrome, which was then London’s main airport. Interestingly Amy Johnson embarked on her record breaking flight to Australia from here, Charles Lindberg arrived in his Spirit of St Louis single engine plane and Winston Churchill trained as a pilot on the same airstrip, so the hotel has a lot of history associated to it.
I was all set and ready to photograph guests in there finery by 5.30 as they arrived, during the evening I managed to photograph most of the couples and groups as I was situated next to the bar.
During the course of the meal the lodge managed to raise approximately £2500 for there chosen charity, thanks to the generosity of there guests. After the meal I was able to take some more photographs, then I gave them the opportunity to view these photographs on the screen so they could chose which ones they preferred . When all the guests were satisfied with there viewings and purchases I was able to leave after saying my goodbyes.
The secure password protected gallery was then placed online for people to browse at there leisure.
Details of the area’s we cover are listed on our website along with all our contact details.
